Antibiotics

Is anyone else on antibiotics due to all the meds they take? I find my self now getting yeast infections and thrush due to steroids and antibiotics. Just wondering? If so, what works for managing these issues? Any advice would be great! I am up to date on vaccinations. Thanks.

  1. Hi, !

You're definitely not alone in dealing with recurrent yeast infections and thrush. There are a couple of reasons this may be occuring, including antibiotic use. If you haven't done so already, I would definitely talk to your doctor about this and see if he/she has any recommendations for you.

In addition, I wanted to share a piece from one of our contributors talking about her struggle with recurrent yeast infections and thrush --https://lupus.net/living/thrush-yeast-infection. Many doctors will prescribe fluconazole to clear up yeast infections. Also, increasing probiotics can help (eating yogurt with live cultures, etc). But, eating some yogurt may not be able to combat the imbalance of good bacteria vs bad bacteria in your body. So, I have to go back to talking to your doctor (if you haven't done so already). Your gynecologist *might* be helpful, but since this issue isn't stemming solely from 'lady issues', his/her ability to get to the root of the problem may be limited.

I hope this helps and I hope you get some lasting relief very soon!
