My worst flare up yet

I recently had my worst flare-up yet. Does anyone know what I should do that can help me? I was suffering from severe headaches, body aches and pain down my arms. My gums and teeth were ever hurting. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them? And what helps you when you get in severe attacks like I did last night?

  1. Oh good heavens. That sounds miserable. I hope you are feeling a little better today. My first recommendation would be to contact your dr if you haven’t already. Beyond that the things that work the best for me is heat! A hot bath/shower &/or a heating pad or heated blanket . I also have found some relief from using a weighted blanket. But it sounds like you may need something beyond those things. I hope you can get some relief soon! Big hugs!

    1. any word from your doctor? I thought you might find these two links useful - the first is how different community members who are living with lupus deal with flares: https://lupus.net/living/flares-coping. And this link is for newly diagnosed community members (there is so much info online, sometimes it can be overwhelming!) We are here for you. - Liz (Lupus.net Team Member)

    2. sorry I am just getting back. Last week was a little goofy. Have you heard back from your dr? If so, what did they say? The flares I would say are the hardest thing to get used to. Like you said they often pop up out of no where. But as you have lived with it for longer you start to understand what your triggers are. So you can avoid those things or at least be prepared for what’s to come. Don’t get me wrong there will still be some times where you have no idea the cause. But for me the longer I’ve lived with lupus the leas the flares are a surprise. It also may help to journal daily how you are feeling and what you’ve done etc so maybe you can start to see trends with each flare. Please let me know how you are doing!! Big hugs!
