Pain

Hi! I’ve been diagnosed with lupus since 2015. But I only flared up last year June. Since then, my pain never stopped. I am currently on Plaquenil but it is not working but i was advised to still continue taking it. I tried methotrexate but it didnt lessen my pain. I am now on azathioprine tablet but it is still not doing anything with my pain. Steroids tablet work like a miracle for me but now that i’ve been on it for a long time I am not getting any relief from it now. I had a steroid injection as well and it didn’t do anything for the pain. Loads of people are telling me to do exercise but if they only know the pain I am experiencing. I would have pain in my neck down to my foot. I am almost always in bed, feeling cold and sorry for myself. Has anyone ever experienced steroid to stopped working? What do you do with your pain? How do you cope with the pain?

  1. I’m so sorry your in so much pain, so am I today. Sending hugs your way.

    1. it’s so hard to deal with the pain. I haven’t experienced the steroid not working . I was on it for a while but doctor weaned me off. I honestly do a lot of meditation and deep breathing. I do also workout or move every day. But my biggest way to cope is meditation. I hope you find something that helps. I have heard acupuncture can help. ~Racquel ~lupus.net team member

      1. I live with my pain, there doesn't seem to be any pain relief. The steroids, plaqunil, ect don't help. My pain started in 2006,joint pain has progressed more in the last few years.

        1. I was diagnosed 6 months ago. Plaquenil would make my stomach hurt so bad I couldn’t function. So then I tried Benlysta. After 3 months it’s not working at all. Only thing that helps is steroids. But they’re losing their effect. I get you the pain is so bad. And I struggle to deal with it as well. I wish you the best.
