Help me understand a little more about lupas

I've been having high fevers 1-2 a week, pouring sweat and freezing at the same time for hours. I've haven't been able to see a specialist yet and I literally feel like I'm dying. Is this normal for Lupus? I'm trying to find out everything I can about lupus and I'm not going to lie, it's scaring me a little with how sick I've been for about 8 months.

  1. Hi, ! I am so sorry you are feeling so poorly. Do you have a scheduled appointment with a specialist or are you still trying to get that scheduled? If you are concerned about your symptoms, you can always try seeing your Primary Care Provider, if you haven't done so already.

It's not unusual to basically feel like you have the flu when you have Lupus, so you're not alone in feeling like so ill. I thought you might find this compilation of member comments on Lupus pain/symptoms interesting -- https://lupus.net/living/pain-feels-like. If there is any way to get in to the specialist faster, don't hesitate to be the 'squeaky wheel', as I call it. You can be put on a cancellation list at the doctor's office and they will call you if they have an openings due to a cancellation. The only caveat is that you may have to be ready to take an appointment slot on very short notice.

Fevers aren't unusual with Lupus and here is some information on them and how to manage them -- https://lupus.net/symptoms/fever.

I hope this helps a little bit and please keep us posted on how you are doing, if you feel comfortable doing so.
