Hand pain

Hi everyone,
Does anyone suffer from constant hand pain? My hands constantly hurt! My knuckles are getting big and I have a hard time holding onto things. I've had xrays done and there was no sign of joint damage so I'm not sure if it's from Lupus or Fibromyalgia.

  1. ouch sorry you are dealing with that hand pain. My hands and elbows have always been affected by lupus and RA so it could be a combination of both your lupus and fibro. I have learned to do certain things to help it. One that is the best for me is washing dishes. I always leave dishes so in the morning when I’m having issues I can submerge my hand in the warm water to get some relief. It’s a simple act that has really helped with the lingering pain and getting a chore done. The other thing I do is small hand exercises like opening and closing, flexing my hands back and forth, spreading them wide and then closing them tight to create tension and relief. These tend to help to relief that joint pain at the knuckles. I am holding space for you to get some relief. I know it’s no fun with the pain and weakness in the hands . ~Racquel~ lupus.net team member

    1. I'm sorry you're dealing with chronic hand pain, . I can't offer any better input than Racquel did, but I do hope other community members chime in with their experiences with hand pain and how to manage it.

      1. Compression gloves help especially wearing them at night. I prefer ones with longer fingers and wrist so that only the tips of your fingers show. I also use gentle massage, hot water, and exercising by touching each finger to the tip of my thumbs, then extending all fingers as far as I can. I usually do this before rising each day. TLC is requisite!
