What are signs and symptoms of lupus

I was diagnosed 5 or 6 years ago with moderate lupus. I've been hurting for a long long time but didn't associated with that because I really don't know anything about lupus. Lately I've had my hips bone on bone and my legs are spasming, probably because I'm not using them as much. I wonder if lupus has anything to do with this any tips advice etc would be helpful thank you. I've been to the rheumatologist once and I'm scared to go back but I know I have to and have never taken hydrochloroquin as she prescribed because my husband told me that it messed his kidneys up a long time ago.

  1. I had some labs recently that indicated autoimmune disease. I didn’t wait for a referral to a rheumatologist. I made an appointment myself immediately. I started treatment last week.
I strongly encourage you to find a rheumatologist you trust and get evaluated. Don’t consider other people’s experiences. Autoimmune disease effects people differently.

    1. SpinBob1 I also have two other autoimmune diseases. One is leukoplakia and the other is lichen sclerosis. So all together I have three

      1. , SpinBob1 is absolutely right in that autoimmune conditions, like lupus, affect different people differently. I understand the concerns about side effects from medications, but you deserve to have a treatment plan to help ease your pain and discomfort! If you are uncomfortable trying the medication that they doctor prescribed to you, you can let them know that and ask if they would be willing to work with you to try other options. There are several treatment options for people managing lupus https://lupus.net/treatment. I would suggest seeking an Rheumatologist that will listen to you and support you in looking for alternative treatment options to help ease your pain. Sending gentle hugs to you.
