Any advice on biologicals?

  1. Hi, !

I hope you get some helpful feedback from other community members about biologics. In the meantime, here's some basic information on biologics that you might find helpful -- https://lupus.net/medications/biologics. You can see what biologics are available and some of the main side effects to watch out for.

Also, keep in mind that since they are immunosuppressants, taking biologics can make you more susceptible to catching colds and viruses, so added vigilance to stay healthy will be important. Some biologics can also take weeks (or months) to reach full efficacy, so don't be discouraged if you don't see any positive results at first. Also, some biologics can only be administered via infusion or injection, so that's something to think about when deciding which medication to try.

My biggest tips would be to do your research and be aware of the side effects you may experience, but I hope other community members will have other helpful suggestions for you!

    Best, Erin, Team Member.

    1. Hi! I have been on Benlysta for 11 years now. I recently shared my experience. So I will link that article. Is your rheumatologist suggesting a biologic?! If so which one? If you have any specific questions please leave them here and we will do our best to answer them!
