Short of breath

Hi, so I've noticed that when I have a flare up that I have shortness of breath. I don't have any pain but just feel like I'm not breathing normally. Does anyone else experience this?

  1. Hi @caligirl - Thanks for your question. Shortness of breathe can be a symptom/side effect of a flare up but it does not necessarily mean it is caused by lupus. From my personal experience, I had both shortness of breathe and sharp pains in my chest. While we can’t provide medical or diagnostic advice via the internet (for your safety), we do encourage people to reach out to a doctor or specialist any time they experience new or worsening symptoms or side effects, to rule out any possible underlying causes. They know you best! Please keep us updated! -Geri (lupus.net, Team Member)

    1. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I only really have experienced this when I had pleurisy. After having double pneumonia and pleurisy it created the shortness of breath. Every now and again the pleurisy comes back and causes it, but it comes with pain. I hope it ge3ts better for you. ~Racquel~ lupus.net team member
