How are your Flares?

I recently had one of the worst flares I have ever had. However, I kept questioning if I just had a stomach bug or if it was a flare. As it continued I realized it was definitely a flare even if it did start out otherwise. Also, during this time (it lasted almost a week) I would have times where I felt okay, thought I was better, and then it would take me down again. Do flares affect anyone else this way?

  1. Hi, !

First off, I am so sorry you experienced such a bad flare! I know flares can really be the pits.

I know some folks have described their flares as seeming to wax and wane or feel kind of like the flu or another virus, so I know you're not alone in what you dealt with. Flares seem to present in a ton of different ways, depending on the person. If you haven't seen this already, I thought you might appreciate this info on different flares (and there are a nice number of member comments following the piece as well) -- https://lupus.net/living/lupus-flares. I do hope other community members will chime in here with their flare experiences, but again, I think what you experienced is kind of typical for some folks with Lupus.

I hope you stay flare free for the rest of 2025!

    Best, Erin, Team Member.
