Exercise and Lupus

What is everyone doing to get their body moving? What are your favorite ways to get exercise in?Exercise Photo

  1. Gardening, but it really hurts. I have to really pace myself.

    1. , Gardening is such an amazing way to get some exercise while also reconnecting with nature and calming the mind. That is of course, as long as you are checking in with your body and giving yourself rest! Which it sounds like you already do for yourself! Thank you for sharing with us. Can't wait until things get warmer out so I can plant some new things myself!

    2. I love gardening. It really is hard work. I have to pace myself when I do it too. I try it day by day and not try to do it all in that hot sun at one time. I've learned a lot about my luous gardening. Thanks for sharing ~Racquel~ lupus.net team member

  2. In 2019 I discovered Aqua Fitness! It was the first time I had enjoyed being physically active in such a very long long time! Before the Pandemic our local JCC had indoor aqua fit taught by one instructor who did Monday general exercises, enjoyable to anyone. Tuesday was geared to doing intervals and Wednesday stretches, we did movements that were taken yoga and barre movement classes. They had out door classes 2 days a week and one night a week Deep water fitness. When winter came, I didn’t dip a toe in water outside. Then the pandemic by fall of 2020 they allowed a very limited number of persons in the adapted outdoor session, spread very far apart etc, so we had a register for each class. The instructor has developed routines that try to blend what we did in classes inside and out. I still miss the indoor ones, but I am grateful for this opportunity! We no longer have to register for class, and at the same time it has become unconsciously normal for us to attempt to maintain distance from each other. We use noodles and dumbbells as along with music she spends time coordinating for each classe’s lesson. They make aqua fit shoes 👟 one brand is rykä(sp?) and I invested into two wetsuit jackets of different thicknesses for the chilly and the cold days. I live S.F Bay area, there are also dvds of Aqua Fitness you can get or maybe check out from the library.
