Cellcept

My Provider just prescribed me Cell Cept. Has anyone ever tried this drug and did it help?

  1. I have not, I don’t think. It’s awful that I can’t remember whether I did cell cell or imuran. But that was 10 years ago and I was only on it for a short time. Whichever it works max didn’t help me. But I never had any issues taking the medication. That said I do have several friends that did okay with it. I know there will be someone who has that can give you helpful info. Have you started taking it yet? Sorry I’m not helpful.

    1. I was prescribed cellcept and it really helped me. Initially I was only on plaquinil and predinsone but protein still kept leaking. So we then added on cellcept. They tapered my dosage to see what would work. It was def alot of trial and error in the beginning but it worked for me. I'm now officially off of it and so far still no protein in my urine.

      1. I've been on Cellcept for around 10 years. I've never had any side effects, although I do have to be careful to avoid people with contagious illnesses. Cellcept has really improved my quality of life. -Meghan, Lupus.net Team Member

        1. I was on cellcept until my body began to reject it. It worked well until my body composition changed. ~Racquel~ lupus.net team member

          1. , cellcept seems to have worked well for me in the four years I've used it. However, see my question below to Racquel:

thanks for your comment. Last year I began having problems with cellcept (digestive issues) and had to reduce the dosage. Now my symptoms are returning. Can you tell me what you mean by "body composition" changing and what you take now instead? Does this new rx work better? as well?

          2. I am going through menopause and I think once I got my hysterectomy it kind of changed my body. This created such a change that I believe the cellcept stopped working with what was going on with my body. I am currently on Plaquenil and Benlysta and that seems to work well for me right now. Our bodies change every day and the older we get or the better we eat the more we exercise we change our body. In turn our meds will change sometimes. ~Racquel~ Lupus.net team member
