Advocates, Ya'll OK?

I not only have a heart for our community, but there's a special place in my heart for fellow advocates. We're not only patients ourselves, but I feel there's an extra responsibility that we assign ourselves in being that person that is always willing to help with support and guidance.

Well, I'm here to tell you advocates need advocates too. So I'm just checking in. Feel free to share how you're doing, even if you're not in the greatest place so we can all chime in and encourage one another.

And if you're in a great space -- any tips on how others can get there?

  1. Love this so much! You are so right, advocates need advocates too. It’s nice to have someone check in. I’m doing okay. I dealt with debilitating depression and anxiety for several months. But got a puppy three weeks ago and things are so much better. She’s a LOT of work but having her around has improved my mental health so much!

    How are YOU doing?!

    1. Sending you gentle hugs. Pet therapy is so amazing. ~Racquel~ lupus.net team member

    2. so glad your puppy can lift you up! Hope it's not toooo much work though. I know physical demands can put me over the edge sometimes with my kids, but having joy in your life from a puppy is so great. 😀 -Ava, lupus.net team

  2. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been dealing with depression and anxiety, but I understand. I'm also glad that you found something that brings you joy. Doing our best to keep joy and and genuine gratitude is so important. I feel like "gratitude" is rammed down people's throats nowadays, but it's a process to get there. I can honestly say I'm embracing genuine gratitude. I'm doing OK. I've had some ups and downs lately, but I see the light and I'm excited about what's to come.

    1. Thanks so much for checking in . I am struggling with mourning a couple of friends that I have lost, but I am okay. It's hard to stay in advocacy mode when life really gets to you. Thanks again 😀 ~Racquel~ lupus.net team member

      1. Yeah advocacy goes out the door (as it should) when we experience our personal tragedy. How are you today?

    2. Thank you guys for what you do and this website! And for sharing your experiences with us. It's been very helpful and encouraging to me.

      1. So glad to hear that! Thank you for sharing with us - it means the world to know that work as an advocate is impactful. 😀 -Ava, lupus.net team
