Newly diagnosed looking for answers

Hello everyone. A couple of weeks ago I was diagnosed with lupus and vasculitis. I was just curious if anyone had their lupus come on after a very bad viral sickness? I initially got sick on my birthday and was downhill from there. Literally thought I was dying. Not sure if it’s normal to be going on month 9 still having symptoms. G.i. Issues and right side throat pain and ear pain, have been a few symptoms that have never really gone away. Also lower back pain and burning left elbow and back of arm pain.

  1. My lupus manifested right after a move. I believe it was the stress of the move that did it. Looking back on my life though I can see where it truly was an issue for me as a child but glossed over. Infections definitely strain the immune system so it could be a possibility. Symptoms of lupus will always come and go. The flares can be lengthy at times. I was actually diagnosed after GI issues that lasted a while before getting it under control. I am happy you are here. Not happy you have been diagnosed but happy you have some answers. Keep asking questions we are here to support you. ~Racquel~ lupus.net team member

    1. Hello Raquel. Thank you for the reply, sorry for the delay in my response. Yeah I’m unsure on what happened to myself. I just know I got super sick one day and scans and blood work were normal. After this viral sickness I continued to have weird symptoms from head to toe. Head pressure, throat pain, ear pain, nerve pain, muscle fasciculations. Stomach issues. It’s going on 9 months and can’t fathom having to deal with this for the rest of my life. It’s like everyday I wake up sick.

      1. yeah I have a good one now. Just hard really. I have been dealing with this going on ten months and it started as what I thought was just a bad flu. Then I thought I had stomach or throat cancer. All my issues are ent related, but doctor says throat is fine, bloodwork normal, scans are normal, but the pain on my right side of my throat is no joke.

      2. ,
That must be frustrating and so uncomfortable.
My thoughts are with you for some answers and much-needed relief.

    2. Hello, my diagnosis came after years of misdiagnosed Celiac Disease which has led to Peripheral Neuropathy, Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis 😐 I have learned much from being in this group 🙌

      1. , thanks for sharing with ! And my goodness, you have collected quite a few autoimmune conditions! Which, isn't all that unusual, but it's sure not fun!
