Lupus diagnosis

I looked back on my medical diagnosis over the years and individually each diagnosis culminates to a final diagnosis of Lupus and I wonder why Dr. weren’t able to give me a signal diagnosis back then. Dating back many years ago my different diagnosis look like I’m a hypochondriac but all diagnoses are Lupus. All those years ago why didn’t a Dr. see the records and give a clear diagnosis of Lupus.

  1. , This is a great question that so many living with lupus have...unfortunately your story is so common in our community. The age of onset of symptoms compared to the age of diagnosis https://lupus.net/living/symptoms-diagnosis. One of our patient leaders shared her experience of spending years seeking answers before learning about her lupus diagnosis: https://lupus.net/video/diagnosis-struggle Know that you are not alone!

    1. Hi, ! I just want to echo what Gabby already wrote and add that it can be hard to pinpoint a diagnosis sometimes. So many autoimmune conditions share a lot of symptoms and it can throw doctors off a bit when they are trying to make a diagnosis. I know, with hindsight, many of us look at our medical records and see red flags all over the place, like, "How did my doctor not catch this earlier??". You're definitely not alone in feeling this way!

      1. Back in the day as of now autoimmune is tricky. From what I’m told it’s a special testing. I have read if u have one autoimmune disease u will have another. That’s where ur flare levels are ect. Lord knows many hospital visits and Drs to finally have my answers. Good luck warriors

        1. , It's like a revolving door of doctors appointments and hospital visits. We hear you!
