Altered Senses From Lupus

Has anyone had their senses of sight, smell, touch, taste, and/or hearing impacted by lupus? What is that like? Does anyone here have creative solutions to cope with this?

  3. Hi, . I know some of our community members deal with altered senses and I thought you might find this recent article right on topic for you -- https://lupus.net/living/altered-senses. Lupus can definitely affect a person's senses, either directly or indirectly. Also, this link is a compliation of members' 'weird and unusual' Lupus symptoms, including sensory issues -- https://lupus.net/living/strange-lupus-symptoms. Definitely talk to your doctor if you are experiencing any hearing loss, loss of sense of smell, etc. While they could be linked to your Lupus, they could also be caused by any number of other conditions. Either way, your doctor may be able to help.

        That must be frustrating. It's important to note, that in addition to lupus, steroids and immunosuppressants can also cause eye complications. We always recommend discussing these changes with your healthcare provider.
