Thanks for reaching out. The shingles vaccine acts as a booster for the immune system.
From my understanding, the older shingles vaccine that contained the live virus is no longer given in the US. As others may want to chime in here with their personal experiences, some of the most common side effects include pain/swelling at the injection site, muscle pain, tiredness, fever, and nausea. I personally experienced all of these symptoms, yet it only lasted approximately 24 hours. ~Doreen (Team Member)
