Exogen test

I have been treated with plaquinil for 5 years now. About a year ago I went for a second opinion on my lupus diagnosis. She got the exogen results and also I still had a positive spotted Antibody but all the rest was neg. she said I don’t have lupus although all the test the first dr took and all the test for four years showed positive Ana and dsdna at different levels. Anyone have any experience with the exogen test

  1. that's a good question. I don't see that any of our contributors have written about the Exogen test. I hope someone will chime in here if they have experience with it. - Liz (Team Member)

    1. , it seems that the Exogen test is sometimes called AVISE test. Here is some more info on it: https://lupus.net/blood-tests - Liz (Team Member)

      1. Hi I actually just went through all of that testing. I have a positive ANA and a high titre but all of the testing said negative for lupus. My Dr still thinks I have lupus due to the symptoms I have. I have had a positive ANA off and on for 13 yrs and all of the rheumatologists I've been to said I just had fibromyalgia. I'm now in my 50's and the flares are getting worse. So I decided to give a rheumatologist one last try. The provider is a nurse practioner. I had told him my story about seeing several Dr's over the years. His response was " no one helped you."!? I told him they all told me it was fibromyalgia. To my surprise he told me fibromyalgia is usually secondary to something else. I finally found someone that will listen to me and give me some answers. Even though the avise said negative, my provider said he goes by the criteria that the patient has. It took me 13 yrs to get a diagnosis. My take away on those tests are they are not the end all be all. We know as sufferers how we feel! Don't let these arrogant Dr's make you think that you are crazy.

        1. ,
Uhg! Such a long, hard and frustrating journey to getting an accurate diagnosis. Sadly, that is all too common in our community. I'm so glad you have finally found someone who is listening to you and not making you feel dismissed! Thank you for sharing with us and for being a part of this community! It's comforting to know we are not alone!
