Daily Exercise, walking for 15 - 20 minutes and light weights work out

I was a caregiver for my husband for 2 years before he passed away from cancer. I felt much fatigue and thought it was from taking care of him. 7 months after he passed away, I had to go to Washington, DC for a convention and because I knew I would be around a lot of people, I went to CVS and they gave me all vaccinations at the same time...COVID, Shingles and Flu. A week later in DC I had the worst fatigue I ever had in my life. When I got home, I actually fell down in the airport. I got home and slept for almost 2 days. It still took almost a year before I was diagnosed. Recently, in talking with my sister, who also has Lupus she told me that vaccinations with live viruses are very dangerous for those of us with Lupus. I still have fatigue and the rashes are the worst. I am however grateful to know what is causing it.

  1. When I was finally diagnosed, I thought, this is probably what is going to "take me out, but I am not going to make it easy." I have a gym in my basement and the next day I started walking on the Gazelle up to 30 minutes and day, and have a UVW i use to lift weights. I had before my husband became sick, walking and exercising. Most everyday I still work out, at a minimum walk for 15 minutes. The walking does relieve pain in my right hip and feet. Weight lifting helps with hand pain.

    1. ,
I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband.
What a blessing you were to be by his side as his caregiver.
You certainly have been through quite a bit in the past few years. It sounds like your incredible strength and inspiring perspective are helping you through these difficult times.
I love how you're keeping active. Walking and working out can be physically, mentally and emotionally beneficial.
Thank you for sharing a bit of your story with us.
Sending you many hugs, Doreen (Team Member)
