Rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus

Hey!

I've been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogrens for 15 years. I'm in a pretty bad flare right now. My pain has always beem tendon pain. Achilles tendonitis, carpal tunnel, etc.
I've always thought I had lupus
I have this rash now.

Is it accurate of how lupus face rash can appear?Cheek rash

  1. Hi, !

I am sorry you are dealing with more than one health issue. Please know we are not doctors and can not provide medical advice or diagnosis. That said, your face rash does look similar to the 'butterfly rash' people with Lupus can experience. You can read about one contributor's experience with Malar rashes here -- https://lupus.net/living/malar-rash. And, as you may know, once you have been diagnosed with one autoimmune condition, you have an increased likelihood of being diagnosed with another one.

I do hope you get some relief from your flare quickly!

    1. That looks like what I get. I have cutaneous lupus not systemic at this time. When ever I get too much sun or just not reapplying sunblock every two hours even indoors. Also if I get stressed or do too much. I also have RA.

      1. I also think I have lupus as well as (possibly instead of) RA. I’m also going to the dermatologist tomorrow because my rheumatologist thinks I may have psoriasis on top of everything else! Good luck to you!

        1. , goodness! I hope your appointment with the dermatologist goes well and that you get some answers (and treatment options). It's frustrating that once you have been diagnosed with one autoimmune condition, the likelihood that you will be diagnosed with another goes up quite a bit.
