New Normal

So is this my new normal? Some kind of pain everyday? Are there ever days when you are pain free and feel like you did before being diagnosed? It's very hard coming to terms with never feeling normal again. I'm sure all of us struggle with this. Frustrating and sad!

  1. There is a "Lupus" Dr. that I follow.. she is on Youtube and has a few books which I have gotten... Its so hard to follow by the vegan rules and eating nothing but that. nothing canned, nothing frozen no meats no dairy. In this day and age its so hard and honestly I don't feel like cooking anything when I get home. I hurt and im exhausted so I want something quick and easy. I can't take pain meds because I am in recovery and I refuse to go back to that. I lost my ins. so now looking for new ins. and thats a struggle. Its a struggle all around with all this... I got clean so I would live longer for my kids and fight SUD everyday for the past 5 yrs to be told I have a disease that could kill me any way. Very frustrating to say the least.

    1. , first, congratulations on being clean for five years! That's an awesome, huge accomplishment!

And I hear you about trying to follow fairly unattainable diet guidelines when you have limited time, money, energy, etc. And while healthy diets help many individuals, they are not a 'silver bullet', nor a guaranteed cure. And honestly? Much like everything else that comes with an autoimmune condition, what works for one person may not work for another. Sure, it's always a good idea to eat healthy and eat less processed food, but our bodies are so complex. It's not a one-size-fits-all world for any of us. And, on a personal note, since when have frozen food become a "no-no"? Does this include frozen fruits and veggies, or is it more about avoiding processed frozen foods?

I hope you are able to get decent health insurance ASAP! That's so important and I know it must be causing you some worry and stress (like you need that in your life! 🙁 ).

Hang in there. You do the best you can with each day you are given and don't let anyone (including me) tell you how to manage your life and your disease.

But, I think you're doing just fine.

Please keep us posted, especially if you are able to find some decent insurance coverage.

  2. Dr Goldner? Yea I can't do the vegan thing. I've tried everything and still had pain so there's that. Its all very frustrating!

    1. , I think almost every person has put their hopes in a diet plan, thinking, "This will be the one! This will fix it!", only to be let down once again.

Don't get me wrong -- eating healthier is a good idea. But, going vegan is not for everyone.
