Lyrica Made My Teeth Rot

Is there anyone else who was on Lyrica even for a short period that ended up with several or all teeth having to be removed?? I was in my late 20s and was told they either had to have 16 root canals or pull almost every tooth. It's horrible and embarrassing. I can't eat some of the most healthy things due to not having teeth. My dentures never got fitted correctly and hurt so bad. I don't know what to do or where to go next!!

<inline-mention username="CommunityMember1336" user-id="4832126"/> I have always had issues with my teeth even from a child. In Hindsight I am sure that is when my lupus was at its worst. I was on Lyrica for a short time for shingles but never correlated my teeth issues with that Medicine. I have had several root canals since them but I’m sure it’s a conglomerate of issues that have caused it. It’s an k retesting thing to look at. Lyrica has potentially serious side effects, many of them associated with the mouth. I have rejected medications I've been prescribes due to possibly serious, even potentially fatal side effects. My former psychiatrist once wanted to prescribe me a mood stabilizer for my anxiety that had a potential to cause a serious, possibly fatal skin rash. I told her I did not wish to take anything with such a serious risk no matter how rare she claimed the risk was. When I got home, I went online to see what kind of rash the medication could actually cause and was horrified at the images I saw. I knew I made the right decision. Ironically, I developed a skin rash a couple of years later that led to my lupus diagnosis. After having been diagnosed, I have discovered through research that numerous chronic problems of mine are often associated with lupus. I began losing teeth 30 years ago due to gum disease. In more recent years I began to have an increasing number of toothaches and extractions until they finally just pulled the few that were left and I got dentures. I wonder now if lupus caused me to lose them.

 Hi Tim. Research tells us that gum and dental disease is not uncommon among people with lupus. It's always best to reach out to a health professional to check on any new or worrisome symptoms, though.
