Ovarian Cysts and Lupus

I hope I am not alone when I say that an ovarian cyst can be very painful. Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs or pockets in an ovary or on its surface.

Ovarian cysts and lupus

Well, I have had way too many bad experiences with having an ovarian cyst. The first one was in high school, and the pain was so bad that I could not lift myself up to sit up straight. I was crying the whole day and could not understand for the life of me why I was in so much pain. It was because I had ovarian cysts on my ovaries. The ER doctors tried their best to understand what was wrong. Their first thought was even pregnant, but I had to honestly let them know I was a complete virgin at that time.

Ovarian cyst treatment

To treat ovarian cysts, they will try and give you medication to shrink the ovarian cyst, but there are times when they can not shrink them. This can cause to lead you to a partial hysterectomy or a full hysterectomy. My mother had them all too well, and she got a full hysterectomy when we were just kids.

The pain I have been having for the last few days I know all too well. The abdominal pain hurts really bad, and I hold my stomach while I try to walk around and go on about my daily habits. One thing with being a mother is that you can not just stay still. So, every day I just mask the pain, but they have come a time that just this morning I could not mask the pain. I sat there and cried in pain and agony, and it lasted for about 15 minutes before I decided to try and take a shower and let the hot water just run all over my body. I ended up not having pain after for about a complete 30 minutes.

Moving forward with my lupus journey

My husband asks me every day if I would like to go to the hospital, and I will tell him no because, of course, I do not want to be away from my daughter, and in my eyes, you become sicker when you go to the hospital. It always ends up being wrong when you try to fix something that is going on with you.

Over the past times that I did my research and talked to my doctors to educate myself. Ovarian cysts can happen to people with lupus anytime because lupus attacks anything, including your ovaries. This can cause health reproductive issues. I removed my cysts with the proper medication, but it was a very painful experience. Just always remember to focus on your body more than anything else.
