Where Do I Go From Here?
Last updated: August 2023
I'm about to be 41, and I got my positive ANA results in March.
Years of being dismissed
Looking at the symptoms and old blood work, it is possible that I've had lupus since my teens or early twenties. I've been fighting to be heard and taken seriously about my symptoms for decades. And have repeatedly been told to lose weight and that it's just my diabetes.
It took me a year just to get the doctor to order an ANA test...And now I'm barely middle aged, still losing weight and in the worst health and most pain of my life. And I haven't even been to the rheumatologist yet.
How are you most likely to respond when someone offers you unsolicited advice about your lupus?
