My COVID Booster Shot Experience with Lupus

After the move to Atlanta, I finally met up with a primary doctor. I am completely in love with medical centers like Jencare. When I went there, they did a full check-up and checked on my memory to make sure I was fine. I received my booster shot, and the flu shot the first day. When getting the booster shot, be sure to bring your vaccination card to get a record of your vaccination shot. My medical assistant put the medication in the same arm, and it created a huge knot in my shoulder that was painful for about a week. They told me the side effects would be my immune system building protection against the virus. On the first day of taking the shot, I started to get a headache. I felt drained and tired. In the late afternoon, I could not get out of bed.

My COVID booster side effects

I started to have a sore throat, and my body ached. It took me at least 2 to 3 days of rest to get over the way I was feeling. To help with my immune and the cough and sore throat, I tried home remedies to make me feel better, such as turmeric, orange, lemon, ginger, garlic, and mint. I would let the steam open my pores and drink the tea while it was hot. The rest was the most important thing that I needed to begin my body's healing process. I did not lose any sense of taste or smell. I did not have any other symptoms other than diarrhea after the first few days.

My experience and the research

Having the first and the second shot and then the booster shot has not been too overwhelming to deal with after having the vaccination. My experience with lupus and dealing with it only brings it just a minor lupus flare. My body learns to fight off infections with vaccinations. Of course, as long as it's the non-live virus. Inactivated vaccines contain whole bacteria or viruses that have been killed or altered so that they cannot replicate. Because inactivated vaccines do not contain any live bacteria or viruses, they cannot cause the diseases against which they protect, even in people with severely weakened immune systems.1 When I visited a virologist, they went into detail about getting vaccines, specifically the inactivated ones. Those were the best for me, suffering from an autoimmune disease.

I would not recommend anyone or influence, anyone to get vaccinated. It is completely your choice. I got vaccinated due to the weak immune system about having lupus. I would like to make better choices for my health and body as possible. According to the CDC, if you received the Moderna just like I did, you should be 18 years or older to get the booster and should get it 6 months after the second shot. Pfizer and Moderna are recommended in most situations.1 Everyone be safe out there.
